Polar Plunge

The Westchester Putnam Chapter is again "Freezin' for a Reason."

Each council has been challenged to participate in this year’s Polar Plunge to support Special Olympics.

It’s simple. Get a few guys to agree to collect money for Special Olympics-New York and take a dip on Saturday, November 12th at Noon at Glen Island Park in New Rochelle.  Just click this link to join the Westchester Putnam Knights of Columbus Plunge Team; it takes under 10 minutes.

There are no minimums for donations.  Collect $10 or $10,000 – everyone is invited to take the plunge.  Likewise, there are no depth requirements – ankle deep or fully submerged, everyone is a Plunger in our book.

It’s a fun day for you and your family.  Have them cheer you on, take pictures, and throw you a towel when it’s done.  This year, after the Plunge, everyone is invited to join us at Dudley's Parkview Restaurant & Bar for a drink and some hot appetizers.

See pictures from last year’s event, where we had a dozen brothers from five councils take the plunge.  We raised well over $5,000 which allows over 14 athletes to train and compete in one of a variety of Olympic-style sports.  Remember, there are over 65,000 Special Olympics athletes in New York and they’re never charged to train or compete.

Also, in the spirit of competition, we will have awards for the:

  • Council that has the largest number of Knights plunging
  • Council that raises the most funds
  • Knight that raises the most funds
